The 4600 Plus combines the ability to accommodate exceptionally large sliding panels with a lift-and-slide mechanism that makes substantial doors smooth and comfortable to operate.

With individual sashes capable of reaching up to 3,300 mm wide x 3,500 mm high and up to 400 kg, subject to configuration and specification, the system makes it possible to create impressive glazed openings using fewer individual panels.

Depending on the complete door configuration and glazing specification, published system information states Uw performance from 0.65 W/m²K.

Bifold Doors or 4600 Plus?

This is a question we are regularly asked, and there is not one answer for every property.
Bifold doors are an excellent solution where achieving a very large clear opening is the main priority. The 4600 Plus is particularly attractive when the customer wants larger uninterrupted areas of glass when the doors are closed.
A multi-track 4600 Plus can offer an interesting compromise between the two. You can retain large individual glass panels while using three or four tracks to create a substantial opening when required. BBF can look at your opening and show you the different configurations before you make a decision.

2, 3 and 4-Track 4600 Plus Sliding Doors

One of the major advantages of the 4600 Plus is the number of configurations available. The system can be produced in single-track, two-track, three-track and four-track arrangements, subject to the particular design. This gives BBF considerable flexibility when designing doors for different openings.

Two-Track Sliding Doors

A conventional two-track arrangement can provide large sliding panels with a straightforward opening configuration.

Three tracks allow multiple panels to slide and stack, potentially creating a considerably larger clear opening than a conventional two-track arrangement.

Four-Track Sliding Doors

For projects where opening as much of the aperture as possible is important, a four-track configuration can be particularly effective.
With the correct four-panel/four-track configuration, panels can stack behind one another to create an opening approaching 75% of the overall aperture. This can provide an excellent alternative for customers who like the wide opening associated with bifold doors but prefer the larger panes of glass and reduced number of vertical sections offered by sliding doors.

The 4600 Plus is available in an extensive selection of powder-coated aluminium finishes. Options include a wide range of RAL colours, textured finishes and other specialist finishes, subject to availability.
Popular contemporary choices include black and anthracite grey, although aluminium doors certainly do not have to be dark. The correct colour can be selected to complement the brickwork, render, cladding, windows and interior design of the property.

Thermal Performance

Large areas of glazing make thermal performance particularly important. The 4600 Plus uses an 80 mm sash and thermally broken aluminium construction with specialist polyamide sections.

Depending on configuration, dimensions and glazing, published system performance can achieve a Uw value from 0.65 W/m²K.

It is important to understand that a quoted system U-value is not automatically the U-value of every finished door. Final performance depends on overall dimensions, number and size of panels, frame-to-glass ratio, glass specification, spacer specification and door configuration.

BBF can calculate or advise on the appropriate glazing specification for your particular project rather than relying on a generic headline U-value.

Ideal Settings for Sliding Doors

The 4600 Plus can accommodate a wide range of glazing thicknesses, with published information showing approximately 22 mm to 65 mm depending on the configuration. This gives BBF considerable flexibility when specifying glass for different projects.

Thermal performance - helping reduce heat loss through large glazed areas.
Solar control - particularly relevant to large south- or west-facing elevations where excessive solar gain needs to be considered.
Safety glass - toughened or laminated glass can be specified where appropriate.
Acoustic performance - specialist glass specifications can help where reducing external noise is important.
Security - laminated glass and other specifications can be considered as part of the overall security strategy.

For particularly large panels, glass specification also has a significant effect on total sash weight. This is why BBF assesses the complete door rather than considering the aluminium frame and glass separately.

Installation of Large Sliding Doors

A sliding sash weighing hundreds of kilograms requires more planning than an ordinary patio door. Access, lifting, glass handling, structural openings, thresholds and finished floor levels can all affect the installation.

Where BBF is providing installation, these considerations can be assessed as part of the survey and project planning process. For supply-only projects, BBF can provide the relevant information required by the builder or installer.

Is the 4600 Plus Right for Your Project?

BBF would consider the 4600 Plus particularly suitable where the priority is:

Large individual glass panels
Wide architectural openings
Strong thermal performance
Smooth operation of substantial sliding sashes
Two, three or four-track configurations
A large percentage opening without choosing bifolds
Contemporary aluminium appearance

However, it is not automatically the right sliding system for every project. If your overriding priority is the absolute minimum possible sightline, for example, one of BBF's minimal sliding systems may be more appropriate.

That is why BBF recommends selecting the system after considering the opening, rather than choosing a product name first.

What is the maximum size of a Cortizo 4600 Plus panel?

Published system information gives maximum sash dimensions of up to approximately 3,300 mm wide x 3,500 mm high. Maximum permitted dimensions depend on the configuration, glazing and sash weight, so BBF should confirm the specification for each project.

What is the maximum sash weight?

The published maximum is up to 400 kg per sash, subject to the specific configuration.

Can I have a three-track 4600 Plus?

Can four tracks create a 75% opening?

With an appropriate four-panel/four-track arrangement, three panels can stack towards the remaining panel, creating an opening approaching 75% of the overall width. The exact clear opening should be calculated for the individual door.

Can I have a 90-degree corner?

The system offers the possibility of a 90-degree opening without a mullion, subject to the appropriate configuration and structural design.

Is 4600 Plus better than Cor Vision?

They are designed around different priorities. The 4600 Plus combines very large panels, strong thermal performance and lift-and-slide operation. Cor Vision systems place greater emphasis on minimal visible aluminium. The better system depends on your opening and priorities.

Are large 4600 Plus doors difficult to operate?

The lift-and-slide mechanism is specifically intended to make substantial sliding sashes practical to operate. Correct manufacture, installation and adjustment are particularly important with very large panels.

Yes. Send BBF your drawings, plans or approximate dimensions and the team can look at the opening rather than expecting you to work out which sliding system you need.
